Bronwyn Bancroft is a Bundjalung Woman and artist from Tenterfield, Northern NSW. She began her artistic career after graduating from the Canberra School of Arts in 1980 and has since exhibited her work both nationally and internationally. Bronwyn has contributed significantly to Aboriginal children's literature, with 43 published books to her name. She is also a trailblazer in the field of Australian literature and has been recognized for her contributions with awards such as the Dromkeen Medal and nominations for prestigious international children's literature awards.
Bronwyn is the founder of Designer Aboriginals Pty Ltd, a founding member of the Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative, and serves on the boards of organizations including the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience, the Australian Society of Authors, and the Commonwealth Bank Indigenous Advisory Council. She holds a Diploma of Visual Arts, two Masters degrees, and a Doctor of Philosophy, and is a passionate advocate for artists' rights and education.
